The SB64 June Climate Meetings will take place in Bonn, Germany, from 8 to 18 June 2026, making the conference a key moment for negotiations ahead of future COP decisions.

In its briefing, CAN calls on developed countries to commit to at least tripling adaptation finance by 2035, mainly through public, grant-based finance. The network also urges parties to advance the Baku Adaptation Roadmap and ensure that the Global Goal on Adaptation is supported by clear means of implementation, especially accessible finance for developing countries.

The document highlights agriculture, ecosystems, forests and oceans as essential parts of climate resilience. CAN says smallholder and women farmers must be prioritized through grant-based support, while forest and ocean decisions should respect human rights, Indigenous Peoples, local communities and ecosystem integrity.

Loss and damage is another major focus. CAN calls for a permanent COP agenda item on Loss and Damage, stronger oversight of the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage, and scaled-up grant-based finance for communities already facing the consequences of the climate crisis.

The briefing also places just transition, climate finance reform and fossil fuel phase-out at the center of SB64 discussions. CAN urges parties to develop people-centered energy transition roadmaps, reject carbon offsetting as a substitute for domestic climate action, and reduce the undue influence of fossil fuel and polluting industries in UN climate spaces.

CAN urges governments at SB64 to deliver stronger action on finance, adaptation, just transition and loss and damage.

[127
445,443,41,448,301,330,449,326,325,447,446,444
post-1700","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-adaptation-finance","tag-bonn-climate-conference","tag-civil-society","tag-climate-action-network","tag-climate-change","tag-climate-finance","tag-cop-negotiations","tag-fossil-fuels","tag-just-transition","tag-loss-and-damage","tag-sb64","tag-unfccc
["GET
