The organization said the talks, taking place from&nbsp;<strong>8 to 18 June 2026<\/strong>, will play a crucial role in shaping the priorities and ambition governments take to&nbsp;<strong>COP31 in Antalya, T\u00fcrkiye, from 9 to 20 November 2026<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In its statement, Amnesty International urged states to build a rights-centered agenda based on equity, justice and legal obligations to protect people from the impacts of the climate crisis. The organization warned that climate action which ignores human rights is both unjust and less effective, especially for communities already facing severe climate-related harm.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amnesty\u2019s recommendations focus on a&nbsp;<strong>full, fast, fair and funded phase-out of fossil fuels<\/strong>, supported by a just transition that protects workers, low-income communities, Indigenous Peoples and other affected groups. The organization also called for an end to fossil fuel subsidies while ensuring social protection for people on lower incomes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Climate finance is another central demand. Amnesty highlighted that lower-income countries need an estimated&nbsp;<strong>USD 5 to 6 trillion by 2030<\/strong>&nbsp;for mitigation and adaptation, while the&nbsp;<strong>USD 300 billion per year by 2035<\/strong>&nbsp;finance goal agreed at COP29 remains far below what is required. The organization called for scaled-up, primarily grants-based finance and stronger support for adaptation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The human rights group also urged governments to strengthen the&nbsp;<strong>Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage<\/strong>&nbsp;and adopt a reparative justice approach for communities harmed by climate change. Amnesty said climate negotiations must guarantee meaningful participation for Indigenous Peoples, frontline communities, environmental human rights defenders and marginalized groups.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As governments prepare for COP31, Amnesty International said the Bonn talks must become a turning point for climate justice.
